Finally, fans of Yellowstone can mark their calendars. The second half of the fifth and final season of Taylor Sheridan’s hit series is set to premiere on Sunday, November 10, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the Paramount Network. For international viewers, the series will premiere on Paramount+ in Canada and the UK on November 10 and 11, respectively, with other regions like Latin America, Brazil, and France following later in November.
Montana Production Resumes
As announced last month, Yellowstone has resumed production in Montana after a lengthy hiatus since January 2023. This mountainous region provides a breathtaking backdrop for the series. The show’s return was greatly anticipated after such a long break.
The Return of Kevin Costner
The big question on everyone’s mind: what about Kevin Costner? The actor, who brought patriarch John Dutton to life, has been vocal about his time on the series. While promoting his upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga, Costner shared with People that he felt overlooked amidst rumors about his exit from Yellowstone. He expressed his disappointment, noting that no one stepped up to defend his contributions: There came a moment where I thought, ‘Wow, when is somebody going to say something about what I have done versus what I haven’t done?’
A Journey Beyond His Expectations
When Yellowstone was initially pitched to Costner, it was supposed to be a single season with a long movie format. However, it extended beyond that. Costner said: I’ll do it for three seasons, and I ended up doing it for five.
Nonetheless, he revealed frustrations over production delays: There was a moment where that show for me stopped for 14 months…That’s the fact. I could have done a lot of things in that time, but I wasn’t aware that that [hold-up] was going to happen.
The Dutton Family Drama
Yellowstone chronicles the lives of the Dutton family who own the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. The family faces constant conflict from shifting alliances, unresolved murders, open wounds, and hard-won respect. They are continually at odds with neighboring entities including an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.
An Uncertain Future
Yellowstone‘s executive producers include Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, John Linson, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox. Despite scheduling conflicts with Costner and his eventual decision to leave the show, he shared on the Today show in June 2024 his willingness to return under the right circumstances: I’ve always felt that…it might be an interesting moment to come back and finish the mythology of this modern-day family.
