Rumors about the cast of Beef season two have swirled, suggesting that the series could see a reunion between notable stars.
The A24/Netflix series about a road rage incident escalating into a feud was highly acclaimed, winning eight Emmys and three Golden Globes.
Earlier this year, it was rumored that a second season might feature Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway, and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny. However, Deadline now reports that two more high-profile actors are possibly joining: Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan.
This potential reunion would mark another project where Isaac and Mulligan share the screen. They famously co-starred in the 2011 action thriller Drive and the 2013 biopic Inside Llewyn Davis.
According to inside sources who spoke to Deadline, Mulligan and Isaac are reportedly in negotiations to star
in Beef‘s second season, with their roles initially meant for Hathaway and Gyllenhaal.
The plot is set to focus on two feuding couples.
Mulligan’s year has been particularly busy. She played an eccentric role in Saltburn, starred in Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, and acted opposite Adam Sandler in Netflix’s sci-fi film Spaceman.
Isaac has also kept busy with significant roles. His previous projects include Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, the Star Wars sequels, and playing Doctor Frankenstein in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming adaptation. He earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for his role in HBO’s miniseries Scenes From A Marriage.
The second season of Beef has not received an official green light yet. However, the prospect of seeing Isaac and Mulligan together again is already stirring excitement among fans.
