Actor Lee Dong Wook is stepping into the world of voice acting in Inside Out 2.
On the 3rd, his agency, King Kong by Starship, announced that Lee Dong-wook will participate as a special cameo dubbing cast in the Disney-Pixar animated film ‘Inside Out 2’ (directed by Kelsey Mann).
This marks Lee Dong-wook’s first attempt at dubbing, and he expressed his excitement through his agency, saying, I will bring you great laughter and fun, so please look forward to it.
Inside Out 2 depicts the adventures and crises that unfold when unfamiliar emotions such as anxiety, embarrassment, boredom, and envy suddenly appear in the emotion control headquarters inside 13-year-old Riley’s mind, disrupting her previously peaceful life.
The Voice Behind Lance
The character voiced by Lee Dong Wook, Lance, is a video game character Riley adored during her childhood. Lance’s face is engraved in the ‘Favorite Faces Mountain’ in Riley’s mind, highlighting how much she loved this character.
Lance encounters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear–who have been trapped in glass jars by the new emotions that have taken over the emotion control headquarters. While Lance boasts a perfect appearance, he also shows some clumsy traits, adding vibrancy to the story.
Inside Out Franchise
The first film spent over five years in development, grossed $858 million against a $175 million budget and won Best Animated Feature at the 88th Academy Awards among other numerous accolades. It follows Riley’s life and the emotions present during her growth and challenges.
Although Lee Dong-wook has never done voice acting before, his experience in various dramas such as My Girl, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Tale of the Nine Tailed, and most recently A Shop for Killers, suggests that he has the versatility required for this new role.
What To Expect

This demonstrates Lee Dong Wook’s gratitude towards his fans and perhaps his motivation to venture into new creative ventures like dubbing work.
Release Date
Inside Out 2 is set to hit theaters on June 14, 2024. Directed by Kelsey Mann and written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein, it brings viewers back into the mind of the now teenage Riley as her emotions try to keep up with her new feelings. Adding characters like Lance promises to add an exciting dynamic to the anticipated sequel.
