Both dragons and giant lizards seem to be in the spotlight recently, but come 2025, dinosaurs will be roaring their way back! Yes, you heard it right! Another Jurassic Park movie is on the horizon, just two years after Jurassic World: Dominion wrapped up the rebooted saga. And just like life… movies always find a way.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter of the first three films, is set to write the still-untitled sequel. Initially, David Leitch of The Fall Guy was in talks to direct but will be replaced by Gareth Edwards, known for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the 2014 Godzilla remake. Edwards certainly knows how to make a giant, scaly creature look menacing on screen.

Edwards shared with Collider his unexpected enthusiasm for joining the project. I was about to take a break and start writing my next idea for a film… this is the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in,
he said. He also added, To work with Frank Marshall and Universal and David Koepp… I think they’re all legends. So I’m just very excited.
The legendary Steven Spielberg will stay onboard as executive producer. Spielberg’s magic truly did bring dinosaurs to generations of moviegoers, securing his spot in cinematic history.
Mysterious Plot
Details about the plot are closely guarded secrets. But one thing is for sure: there will definitely be dinosaurs. Considering where Jurassic World: Dominion left off in 2022—with dinosaurs and humans co-existing—the new film might pick up from there. Alternatively, it could opt for a total reboot using Michael Crichton’s original novel as inspiration.
Producer Frank Marshall hinted at limitless possibilities back in 2022 when he told Slash Film: We obviously want to make quality, good movies with great storytelling, great writers and directors… we’re definitely looking to do more in the Jurassic World.
An Exciting Cast Lineup
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Scarlett Johansson might lead the cast, although it’s not yet confirmed. Additionally, Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is reportedly eyeing a role in this anticipated installment. Rumors also suggest that Jonathan Bailey from Bridgerton, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, and Rupert Friend could be joining the ranks—along with a slew of new dinosaurs!
This revamp likely means we won’t see familiar faces like Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Chris Pratt, or Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their roles—unless there’s a surprise twist.
Eye on Release Date
The current window for the new Jurassic Park release is set for July 2nd, 2025—a turn-around time that seems rapid by industry standards. Filming is slated for this summer in Malta and early fall in London. If all goes as planned with no delays, it might just be next summer’s blockbuster hit.
