It’s been revealed that Julianna Margulies will not be making a return to Apple TV+’s hit series, The Morning Show, for its fourth season. According to various sources, this decision comes despite an offer of a one-episode appearance in the upcoming season. However, there’s still hope fans may see her again in potential future seasons.
Recent Controversy Surrounding Margulies
This decision appears to have been cemented before the backlash Margulies faced last November due to controversial comments made during a podcast discussion. This sequence of events has undoubtedly influenced the current trajectory of her on-screen involvement.
Laura Peterson Character Development
Margulies joined The Morning Show cast in Season 2 as Laura Peterson, a journalist who becomes romantically involved with Bradley Jackson, played by Reese Witherspoon. Despite their breakup early in Season 3, Laura’s character continued to play an essential role throughout the season.
The show’s executive producer Charlotte Stoudt had previously indicated an interest in further exploring Laura’s character dimensions, saying: We’re very, very, very early in the room, but I think I’d want to explore [Laura] more. Her dimensionality. Not just, ‘I’m Laura and I love Bradley, and she occasionally drives me crazy!’ I think there’s more to Laura than that.
Exciting Developments In The Next Season
The ending of Season 3 saw Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon) joining forces against billionaire Paul Marks (Jon Hamm). In Season 4, viewers can expect deeper dives into themes like misinformation and artificial intelligence. The showrunner elaborates: We blew everything up last year with the biggest bomb we could possibly build. So, we have to ask ourselves how is the band going to get back together, and what will that look like? We get into the world of DeepFakes and AI and the misinformation in the fog of war that we’re seeing now in the Middle East and stuff. We’re looking at who can trust. And can you trust what you’re seeing? Can you trust yourself? Can you trust your news outlet?
A Look Back At Season 3
Season 3 was nothing short of eventful. While dealing with issues relating to Alex’s health and Paul’s questionable actions concerning his rocket program, Bradley also had her own struggles including illegally deleting footage linked to her brother’s altercations during the Capitol insurrection.
This setup leaves an intriguing platform for what is to come in Season 4 as The Morning Show navigates the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary media issues while retaining its gripping drama.
