Amazon MGM Studios has announced a star-studded cast for the upcoming live-action comedy ‘Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie,’ directed by animation veteran Kyle Balda in his live-action debut.
Hugh Jackman leads the ensemble cast, portraying George Hardy, a shepherd who reads murder mysteries to his sheep.
The adaptation of Leonie Swann’s bestseller follows George Hardy (Jackman), a shepherd who loves his sheep and raises them only for their wool. Every night, he reads aloud a murder mystery, never suspecting that the sheep can understand and argue about whodunnit afterwards. When George is found dead under mysterious circumstances, the sheep decide to solve the murder themselves.
Supporting Jackman is an impressive cast including Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, and Nicholas Galitzine. Thompson’s role remains unspecified, but she’s sure to bring her notable talent to the film.
The film is based on Leonie Swann’s international bestseller, Three Bags Full was published in 2005 and was the author’s debut novel
. The book was an instant hit in Germany and won several awards.
‘Three Bags Full’ boasts strong backing with producers like Lindsay Doran and Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. Executive production is handled by Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Aditya Sood, and Tim Wellspring.
Craig Mazin, known for acclaimed projects like ‘The Last of Us’ and ‘Chernobyl,’ penned the script. Mazin brings his distinctive blend of drama and comedy to this unique project.
Nicholas Braun, best known from ‘Succession,’ plays local cop Tim Derry. Alongside him is Nicholas Galitzine, noted for bringing charm to any character he portrays.
