Apple TV+ is elevating the excitement around its upcoming drama series Firebug with the addition of four highly acclaimed actors: Greg Kinnear, Rafe Spall, Hannah Emily Anderson, and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine. They join previously announced leads Taron Egerton, Jurnee Smollett, and John Leguizamo, rounding out a stellar ensemble cast.
Developed by the renowned novelist Dennis Lehane, Firebug pulls inspiration from true events documented in the popular Truth Media podcast of the same name. The series centers on a troubled detective (Smollett) and an enigmatic arson investigator (Egerton), who track two serial arsonists creating havoc across the Pacific Northwest.
Diverse Cast Adds Depth
Veteran actor Greg Kinnear reunites with Lehane following their collaboration on Apple TV’s Black Bird. Kinnear’s recent roles also include starring alongside Courteney Cox in Starz’s Shining Vale. This reunion promises strong performances and dynamic interplay on screen.
Rafe Spall brings his versatile talent to Firebug, known for his standout roles in films like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and television hits such as Pete Versus Life. Describing his transformation for roles, Spall mentioned, They wanted to turn me into somebody that an audience could believe Rose Byrne could find attractive. Dennis Lehane, celebrated for his crime novels such as Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, and Shutter Island, leads the charge as creator and writer. His transition from novels to screenwriting solidifies with this project, alongside his previous TV success with The Wire and Black Bird.
