The passing of Chance Perdomo, who portrayed Andre Anderson in Gen V, has had a significant impact on the upcoming season. Producer Eric Kripke recently discussed how the show will address Andre’s absence in an emotional conversation. Perdomo tragically passed away in March 2024 from a motorcycle accident. The team decided not to recast the role, choosing instead to rework the storyline of Season 2.
We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May.
Kripke admitted the difficulties they faced, saying, It’s challenging, to say the least. We were a week away from shooting when Chance passed away tragically. So we had to almost rethink everything, and in just a matter of weeks.
Despite these challenges, the show aims to honor Perdomo’s legacy.
The Emotional Toll on Cast and Crew
I really feel for the actors because they were such a family. I know it’s really hard on a lot of them
, Kripke expressed, reflecting on the deep bonds formed among the cast during production.
This sentiment was highlighted by Kripke’s further remark: First, it’s just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family. We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t.
New Faces and Ties with The Boys
The show’s second season also promises new characters and intertwined narratives with The Boys. One notable addition is Cipher, played by Hamish Linklater. Described as being trained as a scientist and politically astute, Cipher is set to play a pivotal role at Godolkin University.
Kripke is particularly excited about Cipher’s introduction: He’s really scary… He’s a very complicated, mysterious character. I’m excited for people to see him.
A Glimpse of What Lies Ahead
The spinoff’s return will be closely tied to The Boys Season 4 finale. Last November’s cliffhanger left fans eager for more, with Marie, Jordan, Andre, and Emma trapped in a room with no exits.
As Kripke explained: This return is tied into the finale of The Boys Season 4. That will lead right into Gen V.

Through it all, the second season of Gen V strives to be both respectful and engaging—embracing fresh characters while maintaining heartfelt tribute to Perdomo’s Andre. As production carries on, it’s clear that honoring his memory remains paramount among the priorities.
