If you were blown away by the trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, you’re not alone. The distinctive vehicles featured are a significant part of what makes the Mad Max universe so captivating. Let’s dive into seven of the most outrageous vehicles from this apocalyptic landscape.
The Furiosa Bike Chariot
The Furiosa bike chariot is no ordinary ride. This beast combines two BMW R18s, creating an impressive and terrifying machine. Laurie Faen worked extensively on this project, ensuring every piece was functional and theatrical. Describing the chariot, Faen mentioned, The radial, along with all the many bikes in the film, was tested at a race track and subjected to independent engineering inspection. It can be ridden in solo form or in the chariot formation with 2 modified BMW R18’s coupled to it.
The BlackJack Radial Bike
Originally built by Scott Hamann in Alaska, this unique bike went through several hands before becoming the monster we see on screen. John Levey detailed its transformation for the movie, stating, This goes back many, many years […] I went to airplane school and it was always kind of a dream, from the first time I worked on a radial engine, to put one in a motorcycle.
This motorbike eventually found its way into the hands of Chris Hemsworth’s character.
ExperiMental – The Radical Build
Known for his innovative designs, Roger Goldammer’s ExperiMental bike showcased his ability to blend performance and aesthetics. Originally built for Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off, this two-stroke BRC 250cc super kart motor is an example of Goldammer’s unparalleled craftsmanship.
The Custom Double Heads
The parallel effort to create something monstrous didn’t stop with bikes. Laurie Faen and his team re-engineered several vehicles from recycled parts. These double-headed motorcycles commanded attention both for their creativity and functionality.
The Big-Bore Beasts
No Mad Max film is complete without some serious horsepower. Radial engines were intricately redesigned and implemented, forming some of the most iconic vehicular sequences in the film series. John Levey explained his involvement succinctly: While learning the intricacies of the radial engine, I realized how much potential there was for creating something truly unique.
Bikes Soaring High
Aviation-inspired designs weren’t limited to aesthetics. Some bikes had actual aircraft engines integrated into them making these rides genuinely one-of-a-kind.
The Drag Cats
Last but certainly not least is a nod to the drag-inspired creations that took fast-paced engineering to a whole new level. With heavy frames and massive powertrains, these machines were as fierce as they come.
