A Texas family finally has answers after a cold case was cracked in Beaumont, Texas, following a grim discovery earlier this year. The mystery surrounding Kimberly Langwell, who vanished on July 9, 1999, appears to be solved.
Kimberly Langwell had called her daughter to say she would be home for dinner around 6:30 p.m. after making a stop at her ex-boyfriend Terry Rose’s house. That dinner meeting never happened. Authorities later found her car abandoned at a pharmacy with her cellphone and personal belongings inside, but no trace of Kimberly.
Key Informant Opens the Case
The case went cold for years until April when investigators received new information. A reliable informant
revealed that Langwell was killed inside Rose’s home the night she disappeared and buried on his property, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Search Leads to Grim Discovery
Authorities executed a search warrant and began an extensive search of Rose’s property. On a Thursday, they started breaking up the concrete in Rose’s driveway using radar and cadaver dogs.
Beneath the concrete, detectives found human remains believed to be that of Kimbery Langwell. This discovery led to the arrest of Terry Rose, now 67 years old, who had always been suspected but never charged due to lack of evidence.
Concrete Breakthrough in Investigation
Detectives working tirelessly broke the concrete in search for closure. Their ongoing efforts are aimed at formally identifying the remains, but initial indications strongly suggest they belong to Langwell.
An Arrest with Heavy Accusations
Terry Rose has since been held at Jefferson County Jail on a $1 million bond under heavy accusations of murder. Despite suspicions about him over the years, compelling evidence only emerged recently due to the informant’s crucial input.
