Tulsa King is back for a second season this fall!
The highly anticipated return of the Paramount+ series Tulsa King will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 15. Sylvester Stallone returns as Dwight Manfredi, a former mob boss trying to build a new crime empire in Oklahoma. Alongside creators Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, this season also brings director Craig Zisk into the mix.
In the teaser, Stallone’s Manfredi asserts, ‘An adventure that deals with everything from mafia king to tech king.’ This statement gives us a glimpse of the multifaceted journey awaiting viewers.
Behind the Scenes Changes and Challenges
This season hasn’t been smooth sailing behind the cameras. The clashes between Winter and Sheridan were notable, with accusations of arrogance reportedly exchanged. Despite these tensions, Winter reassumed his role as lead writer, while Zisk took up production duties. Additionally, the show faced allegations from extras of mistreatment on set by Stallone, which added another layer of complexity to its production narrative.
The New Season’s Plot
The upcoming season promises intense drama and action, depicting Dwight and his crew as they strive to protect their growing empire in Tulsa. With adversaries from both the Kansas City mob and a powerful local businessman, Manfredi will have his hands full. As Stallone puts it in the teaser: ‘The only thing scarier than a mob boss is a mob boss with a conscience.’
Exciting Cast Additions
The series’ regulars including Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Vincent Piazza, Tatiana Zappardino, Annabella Sciorra, Neal McDonough, Frank Grillo, Domenick Lombardozzi, Andrea Savage, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany are returning for this season. The ensemble cast is expected to add significant depth to the unfolding narrative.
What Lies Ahead?
Season 2 of Tulsa King, directed now by Craig Zisk known for his work on ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Divorce,’ promises heightened intensity and drama. As text from the research material points out: ‘I run on my own clock; I don’t step in line. I step over.’ The show’s fate might hinge significantly on how these thematic elements play out under Zisk’s experienced hand.
