It’s finally here – the first trailer for Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake has debuted, and it looks like it will deliver on the dark, gothic horror we’ve come to expect from the director of The Witch and The Lighthouse.
Starring an impressive ensemble cast including Nicholas Hoult, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Ineson, and Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok, Nosferatu is a re-imagining of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 classic. The film is set to hit theaters on December 25, promising a spine-tingling Christmas treat.
This project has been a long time in the making for Eggers, who has faced numerous challenges including losing original cast members such as Anya Taylor-Joy and Harry Styles over the years. Despite these hurdles, anticipation remains high.
According to Focus Features, “It’s a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.”

Eggers’ dedication to crafting atmospheric horror is evident in the trailer. Eerie candle-lit rituals, creepy children, and glimpses of a hairier-than-usual Count Orlok populate the moody visuals. Eggers stated back in 2016,I saw a picture of Max Schreck as Count Orlok in a book in my elementary school and I lost my mind.

Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of Count Orlok looks nothing short of chilling. Eggers mentioned,(Skarsgård) has so transformed, I’m fearful that he might not get the credit that he deserves because he’s just… he’s not there.

The clip revealed during CinemaCon featured additional footage, notably distinguished by terrified villagers and ominous whisperings of he’s coming
, with Count Orlok lurking in shadows.
