The Dubrow Family Dynamics

Ace isn’t the only child in the Dubrow family who is part of the LGBTQ+ community. In June 2020, Heather’s eldest daughter Max came out as bisexual. About a year later, their daughter Kat, came out as a lesbian through their family group chat.

Speaking to People about it, Heather recalled finding out from Kat in their group chat and referring to it as a total mom fail. Kat decided to drop in our family group text, ‘By the way, I’m a lesbian,’ And I didn’t see it, she said.

The Power of Communication

Opening up further about her family dynamics in interviews over time, Heather emphasized how proud she was of her children and their open communication. I came from a family that was very 1950s and no one ever talked about anything… I knew if I were lucky enough to have a family, I would be the opposite of that.

A Shared Mission on RHOC

Heather explained that she returned to RHOC in 2021 because she believed it would be a great platform to showcase her family’s unity and perhaps initiate conversations within other families. She said: I thought ‘Hey, we’ve got this great platform… maybe start conversations in other people’s families?’.
