The hit reality series Alone returns for its 11th season on The History Channel, premiering today, June 13, and it’s set to be one of the most challenging seasons yet. Among the ten participants braving the harsh conditions of the Arctic Circle is Michaela Carriere from Cumberland House, Saskatchewan.
Meet the Participants
This season’s contestants hail from diverse backgrounds and bring unique survival skills to the competition:
- Peter Albano, 42, a librarian from Castlegar, British Columbia.
- Dusty Blake, 36, a welder from Fifty-Six, Arkansas.
- Michaela Carriere, 34, an adventure guide from Cumberland House, Saskatchewan, with extensive trapping and hunting experience.
- Other participants include individuals from Indiana, Missouri, Labrador, Indiana again(!), Michigan, and West Virginia.
Gear Selection
The contestants can choose up to ten items from a list of allowable gear. These items may include basic shelter necessities like tarps and sleeping bags, as well as tools such as pocket knives and hunting knives.
Surviving in the Arctic Circle
This season takes place in the Arctic Circle, the most northern location ever for the series. Contestants must rely on their wits and minimal supplies to survive in isolation. Michaela Carriere’s experience as an adventure guide will certainly be put to the test in these extreme conditions.
Carriere’s participation reflects her fierce determination and sportsmanship. As Commissioner Adam Silver once said about a different competitor: Everyone knows what a fierce competitor he was. I called him a basketball genius earlier. I think what gets lost sometimes…is what a caring person he was.
