Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions have unveiled the cast for their adaptation of the popular PlayStation game Until Dawn, featuring a talented ensemble of rising stars, including Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, and Odessa A’zion. Renowned director David F. Sandberg, known for his work on films like Lights Out and Shazam!, is set to lead the project.

The suspenseful plot is being kept under wraps, but it’s touted as an R-rated and terrifying tribute to the horror genre, focusing on an ensemble cast. The movie aims to stay true to the essence of the video game, where eight friends are trapped in a remote mountain retreat and must navigate their fears to survive the night.

The screenplay has seen contributions from Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman, with Dauberman also producing under his Coin Operated banner. Additional producers include Mia Maniscalco, M’ngata’s Sandberg and Lotta Losten, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee, and PlayStation Productions’ Qizilbash and Carter Swan. Michael Bitar is overseeing the project for the studio.

Ella Rubin recently starred opposite Anne Hathaway in Prime Video’s romantic film The Idea of You, which became a breakout hit. She has also appeared in Anora, winner of the Palme d’Or, and Netflix’s fearsome Fear Street: Prom Queens.

Michael Cimino, well-regarded for his role as Victor in Hulu’s Love, Victor, is currently starring in Prime Video’s drama series Motorheads. He will also appear in upcoming projects such as Girl Haunts Boy and previously featured in Netflix’s comedy hit Senior Year.

Ji-young Yoo, nominated for a Gotham TV Award for her role in Prime Video’s limited series Expats, was most recently seen in the coming-of-age drama Smoking Tigers. Her performance continues to garner attention as she prepares for her next role in Freaky Tales.

Odessa A’zion, who received praise for her role in Sitting In Bars With Cake, is set to star alongside Rachel Sennott in an upcoming HBO pilot directed by Lorene Scafaria. Her experience spans both film and television, having recently wrapped up filming for She Rides Shotgun.

This highly anticipated adaptation is generating buzz as audiences look forward to seeing how this story will transition from console screens to cinemas.
